WEDDING//SHOWER

Lots of good things happening on this side of the world, but there are not enough hours in the day to write about them! This weekend we had the pleasure of attending a wedding shower for Angela, a wonderful friend at our church. Now, this was not your Southern-sundresses-sandwiches-pearls-and-petit-fours deal. We began with a sermon, then spent about seventy-five percent of the party dancing. African ladies know how to celebrate. In fact, it's hard to get a good photo because of all the dancing!

CALLIGRAPHY

This month I had the honor of doing calligraphy for the wedding invitations of a dear friend!
I know she will be the stunning centerpiece of a beautiful wedding. Congratulations, KA!

CHALK//ART

Have I mentioned that my sister got married this summer? Yes? Are you sure? Well, the wedding gave me a chance to spend some quality time with chalk lettering. I've been interested in chalking for a few months now, so I was really excited to experiment with it for Mary's reception. I did about 12 or 13 large pieces that were hung around the building. I think they turned out so well and really appreciated Mary trusting me with the job! What a girl!

I'm pretty sure I'll have chalk dust in my lungs for the rest of time, but that's a small price to pay in the name of love and aesthetic.

Thanks to my brother for the photos!

BRIDES//MAIDS

As I mentioned earlier, my sweet sister celebrated her marriage this summer. Rewind to January when the wedding plans were cranked into motion. One of the first things Mary did was ask her bridesmaids to, well, be her bridesmaids. She decided to give them each a pair of earrings to wear at the wedding, along with a little poem and handwritten note. I was maid of honor (duh) and got the job of putting together these special boxes! Admittedly, my first idea was to mail each girl a piece of notebook paper that read "will u b my bridesmaid? check one." with two boxes that said "yes" or "no". This idea was much better...

oh yeah. did i mention there were SIXTEEN of us? the more the merrier. or, mary-er, i suppose!
